The City of Cabanatuan lies on the central plane of the province of Nueva Ecija. It is considered one of the hottest places in the country during summers in the past few years, though it’s a factor to help agriculture, in some instances, it has negative effects in everyday living especially in the most urbanized areas of the city.

Cabanatuan was once an agricultural land but as time passed by, it became more progressive in trade and commerce as it serves as the center of transportation of the province and other neighboring places. In the progress of time, commercial buildings array along the main streets of the city where the sheds of trees existed. Different establishments congested the main street to get a higher number of good consumers. Unplanned existence of these establishments creates irreparable damages to the image of the city and more significantly in the natural state of the environment.

This project is eager to establish a prototype community planned along with the environment. This project will help to realign the economic growth and modernization of the city. It is possible to consider the existing environment while taking a rise in the progress and development of the economy. This project is a community that maximizes the usage of greens scapes all over the site wherein one can walk around under the shed of the trees. It is an image of forest in the city where the greens are properly arranged in line with the architecture of the community to make everyone live safe and sound, and breathe the same air that Mother Nature does.

Trees are critical to the carbon sequestration from the earth’s atmosphere and have a significant role in decreasing the carbon footprint of human. In a research result, huge trees can captivate important amounts of carbon from the atmosphere each year, as the tree catches carbon dioxide and respite oxygen. Vegetation, therefore, helps improve air qualities in the cities as they absorb polluting particles. Maximizing urban green spaces will help to alleviate a city’s already existing poor air quality that adversely affects population. Moreover, trees and landscapes eliminate bad odors in the air.

Trees captivate heat and wind power, minimizing the environment’s impact on the building’s temperature. Trees surrounding buildings can importantly decrease the amount of heat that cools the building, and in turn decreases the energy consumption. Trees balance the level of heat waves and cold air, building a sort of boundaries between the walls of the building and the elements. Aside from its effect in building temperature, it also shields the structure from other unwanted effects of the weather, such as gradual wearing away of the walls. Vegetation around a building covers it from the elements and minimizes heating and cooling costs.

As this project largely focuses on the provision of natural sustainability by using trees and landscaping, it also considers the provision of other sustainable technologies such as rainwater collective system and solar panel to sustain the consistent supply of power and minimize its cost. Rainwater collective system can be used for utilities that requires non-potable water supply such as water closet and plant watering. On the other hand, solar panels can provide, at least, energy for lighting systems which is good for power source blackout emergencies. Solar panels can also diminish the temperature effect of the sun.
