Greetings from the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners (PIEP)!
As we celebrate the World Town Planning Day together with more than 30 countries across the globe,
the PIEP shall conduct its 26th National Convention with the theme, “Sustainable Cities and Communities
for the Urban Century” to be held on November 7 - 9, 2017 at Seda Vertis North, Quezon City.
This occasion intends to raise broad-based awareness on the importance of planning, from the national
lens to the local governance perspective. With most of our members coming from various local
government units (LGUs), National Government Agencies (NGAs), and Non-Government Organizations
(NGOs) in the field of urban and regional planning, not only does this convention provide them an outlook
on the valuable contributions of urban and regional planning on the improvement of the quality of life
and in promoting the economic development without sacrificing the built environment, but also enable
them to tackle pressing issues and challenges brought about by the current political and socio-cultural
situation, allowing them to explore development opportunities, planning strategies and innovations
anchored to the nation’s unique ecosystem. The 3-day convention includes business meetings and tours,
in addition to Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) approved Continuing Professional Development
programs (10 CPD points) on the following topics:
1. Sustainable Integrated Rural-Urban Economic Planning;
2. Socio-Spatial Planning
3. Post-crisis Management and Conflict Planning;
