The proposed Redeem Center is planned to be an iconic and comprehensive design solution to integrate the art, technology, and cultural-religious functions of the client. The Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ 4th Watch; primarily involved in evangelizing and preaching the word of God through personal interaction and in every means they have. Committed to serving people and continuously evolving their technologies and services through Television, Radio, Music, Publishing, Online multimedia services, Theatrical Performances, Church Events, and Gatherings. Which are intimately involved in the societal structure of today. As the most ubiquitous and powerful medium ever, it seems to be particularly suited in reaching people with profound impact. It aims to transform lives through meaningful and life-changing contents and services that will enlighten, educate, inspire, and bring hope to the community.
Spurred by the challenge to involve and foster Christian Culture in the 21st century, where technology is one of the world’s necessities of our time today, there are certain concerns which the PMCC 4th Watch wants to address particularly through Architecture. From the internal aspect; the spiritual life of every individual, enlightenment and broadening of knowledge about Christian Culture, from the internal aspect; the spiritual state of every individual with concern to their enlightenment and broadening of knowledge about Christian Culture, to the external or physical aspect; the lack of facilities intended to inform and preach to people to see the world differently.
PMCC 4th Watch is undeniably growing rapidly when it comes to attendees and its ministries, that is why issues and challenges are being faced by the church. The first concern is that some locale churches such as SJDM, Camarin, and Novaliches locale have a weekly attendee of 600 to 800 members. But during Anniversaries, Fellowships, and gatherings, they rent other venues because their house of worship has an inadequate number of seats to cater to their thousand attendees and with this, it affects the experience and performance viewing and listening of the audience. The second concern, the ReDEEM multimedia group, is decentralized. The organization demands to have centralized headquarters for them so that they will be more functional and organized in terms of work and have proper facilities and studios for the program shootings they hold. And lastly, the Alpha Omega Theatrical Production, though they have been able to create over 70 stage plays; some of which are live musical plays while others are lights and sound presentations, they still demand a large place where they will be able to rehearse properly and perform live to reach people. The PMCC 4th Watch church events and ministries demand not just space, but areas specifically made for its functions. In our time today, Multimedia is now an essential tool in promoting the client’s cause, to provide a trusted and indispensable source of information, music, and entertainment while strengthening the Christian cultural life of its members and the community.
The ReDEEM Center will not just address the demands and needs of the church but also bridge the gap in the spiritual life of people. It will serve as gateway to inform, educate, and enlighten people about Christian Culture and leads to awareness regarding the importance it. It will be a development where people are the core of its existence. And will offer a great opportunity to bestow a new level of faith through Architecture, the combination of “Art”, “Technology” and “Culture”.
Situated in San Jose del Monte, a ‘people-centered’ city, will give rise to a development that is comprised of an Events Venue for church gatherings and theatrical performances and a Multimedia headquarters with its Life TV and Radio station, thus cohesively accommodating the commercial, corporate, and cultural-religious aspects of the church.
OVER-ALL DESIGN CONCEPT
“Conceptual Combination”
The key concept of the proposed development was derived from Conceptual Combination, an idea in which two or more concepts synthesized to generate a composite, higher order of concept. The fusion of the ancient and modern way of fostering Christian Culture and preaching the words of God was used in the process of developing the proposed project. The two main concepts of fostering Christian culture, in Before Common Era and Common Era, though far different from each other, still both have similarities in terms of purpose, practice, and goal, which is to evangelize. In the time of Noah, the Before Common Era, the process of fostering Christian culture was in terms of face to face or personal interaction. This concept was applied to the function of the Cultural Theater. A venue that will serve as a shelter to Christian, a place to bestow a new level of faith through church gathering, events and performances. And it promotes social interaction and intimacy. The concept also applied in the transformation of the building form. In the other hand, in the Common Era or the 21st Century, although personal interaction is still present, it is continually being modernized with technology. Computer, television, radio, social media – all of which are being utilized to foster Christian Culture, in reaching people with profound impact. Associating the concept to the multimedia headquarters, it will serve as the beacon for the development. Utilizing its multimedia services in promotion, invitations, and advertisements, it will guide and inform the people to come and gather. Being the source of all multimedia materials for fostering Christian Culture. This concept was also applied in the site form concept.
As what Norman Fosrter said, “Architecture is an expression of values” “The best architecture comes from a synthesis of all the elements that separately comprise a building”. It simply says that a balancing act of integrating and somehow responding to all the needs of a project: because architecture is rooted in the needs of people - material and spiritual, measurable, and intangible. It must have the ability to transcend function, to add beauty as well as value, to lift the spirits, or to move us in some way which is the aim of the project fostering Christian Culture. It plays an important role in the building and as an aspiring architect, we must indeed synthesize and carefully understand what people need to be able to achieve an ideal work of architecture.
