The proposed thesis project will be the first ideal one-stop shop of both learning and health facility in the Philippines for children with special needs that will be located in Dasmarinas City, Cavite. The main goal of the study is to establish a pwd child-friendly and enabling environment comprising of learning spaces, rehabilitation centers, and accommodations that will meet the standard of having a safe, and positive space for the target users and everyone.

The research methodology was guided by descriptive research design wherein all gathered data will be analyze to produce a theory as a solution for the development of the project. Gathered data were from different government and non-government organizations such as National Council on Disability Affairs, Philippine Institute for the Deaf, Autism Society of the Philippines, Department of Health, Department of Education, Dasmarinas City Hall, QC Kabahagi Center for Children with Disabilities, Philippine Statistics Authority, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, and different foreign studies that is stated on Chapter two of this book.

Review of Related literature and case studies were focus on the approach of the project which is design sensibility and salutogenic architecture. The case studies discussed the different related facilities to the project as well as the architectural solutions applicable for each type of disabilities whether physical or intellectual. Architectural case studies, were also conducted on QC Kabahagi Center for Children with Disabilities to gather a first-hand information and observation of the users.

After gathering the data about statistics, the types and characteristics of persons with disabilities, site selection process was conducted followed by site analysis. Based on the likert scale used, the site from Brgy. Burol, Dasmariñas City, Cavite was the most suitable site for the development. The site is in an inside lot in Brgy. Burol and is along Governor Dominador Mangubat Avenue, and it has an area of 58,030 square meters.

The project will be guided by Charles Eames' concept, which states that "Recognizing the need is the basic requirement for design." The researcher synthesized that the design process should be examined the client's true needs, which defined the project's limits and created a solution to benefit the maximum number of individuals. All building elements must be carefully assessed for children with special needs, who may be particularly vulnerable. From the philosophy develops the concept of providing an avenue for these specially-abled children which would be achieved by employing salutogenic architecture through -design sensibility.

The sources of funding for the proposed Rehabilitation and Learning Center for Children with Special needs will be from the Department of Health together with Suntrust Inc. and Rehabilitation International which both parties were known to develop this type of facility in the Philippines and in other countries.

A lot of possible improvements could be made for this study as time goes by. Regarding the salutogenic architecture and design sensibility approach, related ideas or project proposals are open to debate and discuss this topic in order to develop a better approach which considers mainly the persons with disabilities.
